People in the autistic spectrum often having difficulty in judging the emotional expressions of faces. To aid research in this area, a team led by Simon-Baron-Cohen at Cambridge University have compiled an emotion library of over 400 emotions. Called the Mind Reading Emotions Library, it will aid research into the special needs of children and adults who have difficulties recognizing emotional expressions in others. The following tool was designed to test how accurately you can determine emotional expressions. It has twenty items and should take about ten minutes to complete. All twenty items are taken from the Mind reading Emotions Library. Click play on each image to view the relevant facial expression, then choose the item that most closely matches the emotion from the drop-down menu. Each emotional expression matches only one of the items on the menu.
