Professor Philip Shaw introduces the three broad symptoms associated with ADHD: hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention.
The symptoms of ADHD fall into 3 broad categories. First of all, is hyperactivity, so that’s a kid that’s always on the go, is fidgeting all the time and can’t sit still. The second big family of symptoms is impulsivity; that’s someone who always blurts out the answer to questions and has problems waiting their turn in things. The third big family of symptoms are of inattention; that’s a child who has problems sustaining attention on tasks, who is very, very distractible and really struggles with organizing things. So those are the symptoms of ADHD broadly.
