GNB2L1/A0124

Guanine nucleotide-binding protein subunit beta-2-like 1 (GNB2L1), also named receptor of activated protein kinase C 1 (RACK1) or A0124, contains seven protein-protein interaction domains of the WD type, which cover almost all the protein sequence.

Guanine nucleotide-binding protein subunit beta-2-like 1 (GNB2L1), also named receptor of activated protein kinase C 1 (RACK1) or A0124, contains seven protein-protein interaction domains of the WD type, which cover almost all the protein sequence. GNB2L1 interacts with several proteins, especially with the activated form of protein kinase C (PCK), anchoring this enzyme to the cytoskeleton. GNB2L1 also interacts with SLC9A3R1 and HABP4, and forms a ternary complex with TRIM63 and PRKCE. It has been proposed that GNB2L1 is a core component of ribosomes and that it provides a physical and functional link between PKC signaling and ribosome activation. The function of GNB2L1 in the ribosome may be to repress gene expression.
