MAP2K7/A0164

Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) MAP2K7 is also known as dual specificity MAP kinase (MAPK) kinase 7 (JNKK2/MKK7), or A0164.

Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) MAP2K7 is also known as dual specificity MAP kinase (MAPK) kinase 7 (JNKK2/MKK7), or A0164. These kinases have the specificity to phosphorylate not only serines and threonines, but also tyrosines, and belongs to the STE group of protein kinases. The activation of MAP2K7 leads to phosphorylation and activation of C-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) MAPKs. Differently to the MEK1 and 2 pathways, the MAP2K7-JNK pathway is activated in response to environmental stress and cytokines. As with other members of the MAPKs, this protein is widely expressed.
