Guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), beta 2 (GNB2), also known as A0070, is a subunit of the heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins).
Guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), beta 2 (GNB2), also known as A0070, is a subunit of the heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins). Heterotrimeric G proteins have GTPase activity and act as signaling modulators and transducers for many different transmembrane proteins, including transmembrane neurotransmitter receptors. They are made up of three subunits, one catalytic alpha subunit that interacts with beta-gamma dimers in the guanosine diphosphate (GDP)-bound state. GNB2 is one of several beta isoforms and is expressed at similar levels throughout the brain. This protein has not been associated with any human disease and has not been knocked-out in the mouse.
